Eliz Erle of Charborough, m. Henry Drax of Ellerton Abbey, Yorks. Note: the family of Drax appears to have been anciently seated in the county of York. In 1647 Colonel Drax, Col. Modiford, Colonel Walrond and other cavaliers, having converted their estates into money, and not being able to reside in England under the usurpation, retired to Barbados where Colonel Drax acquired in a few years, an estate of £8000 or £9000 per annum and married the daughter of the Earle of Carlisle, then proprietor of the island.
