Newspapers and journals: Robbery, 1850

Robbery.—On Monday last some candlesticks, the property of Mr John Lawton of Midleton, were stolen from that town, and a few hours after Constable Mcmahon, of the Ballinacurra station, succeeded in finding them broken up in several pieces, and fully concealed under a heap of marine stores, in the house of Thomas Meany of Cloyne, and subsequently arrested John Gumbleton and Cornelius Sullivan of Midleton, rag and bone dealers, who were committed to take their trial at the ensuing assizes to be held in Cork. The articles having been fully identified by the owner, and the commission of the deed traced to the prisoners.
