Family trees: Gumbleton Family of Ireland
The date of settlement of the Gumbleton family in Ireland is uncertain. Early copies of Burke's Landed Gentry include the family and state that they are descended from the 'Kentish family of Gumbleton'. However, I have not yet found any evidence to support this.
The following is a family tree for the Irish Gumbletons. This is taken from Burke and various other sources, especially the research done by Peter Swann who is descended from the family.

John Quin who died in 1789 with no issue, and then in 1792 to George Gumbleton [see Freeman's Journal 1792]. Her father had the lease of Cappercullen in 1759 from Lord Carbery, and two further ancestors were both called Standish, the first having taken the lease of Elton, co. Limerick, in 1673. [Source: info supplied by J Peter Swann] Note 2: This information taken from marriage settlement transcribed by Jane Wood. Burke has her as Frances, dau. of Hamilton O'Hara but it was Frances Anne Hamilton's brother who added O'Hara to his name in adult life. They were the children of Charles Hamilton of Portglenone, co. Antrim, later of Bath. [Information supplied by Peter Swann] Note 3: Burke gives the name as 'Richard'. However, Faulkner's Dublin Journal and Freeman's Journal say 'Henry'. Note 4: Burke has John John Bowen's year of birth as 1795 but he registered himself at King's Inn in 1814 with a birth date of 20 April 1796, Note 5: Dau of Rev Matthew Purcell & Elizabeth Leader Note 6: Information about this branch supplied by Catherine Spencer Note 7: Mary mentioned in will of father Richard Note: Middle name 'Conner' in will of father Note 9: Jane is wife of William 'Daniel' in will of Richard. Burke has William 'Daunt' Note 10: Burke has R. Walton; Richard's will has Thomas Walton Note 11: Jane Wood has transcribed Richard Gumbleton's (the father's) the will and its abstract. The abstract incorrectly lists Frances, Eliza and Maria as separate people Note 12: Reference in Kerry Evening Post, transcribed by Jane Wood, describes Catherine Moore as eldest daughter of Robert Moore and granddaughter of late Hon. Ponsonby Moore & niece to late Marquess of Drogheda and Lord Ashdown Note 13: Marriage licence bond transcribed by Jane Wood has Thomas Rashleigh: other sources have John
