| Richard Edward Gumbleton was a son of Richard Gumbleton of “Castle Richard” and his wife Frances, nee Hamilton. He was born in 1786.
In 1793, his father died and he was named in the will. He matriculated at Brasenose College, Oxford,on 10 Oct 1803, aged 17 and was awarded his MA degree on 18 Jun 1806. He then trained in law at Lincolns Inn. A newspaper notice of 1819 records his death the island of Scio (presumably the Greek island of Chios, situated in the Aegean Sea). | ||
