State papers: Reward to Sergeant Gumbleton

Lord Townshend to the Lords of the Treasury. His Majesty is pleased to allow, as a reward for their fidelity, 60l. to Sergeant Gumbleton, a sergeant in the Coldstream regiment, and 40l. to Corporal Muloy, in the same regiment, for having discovered to the Government a design of corrupting the guards at Newgate in order to let several of the prisoners make their escape, and for apprehending one of the persons concerned therein. Whitehall, 4 June 1716. Minuted:5th June 1716. Prepare a warrt.
