State papers: Petition by William Gomeldon

28 Oct 1631 Petition by William Gomeldon, his majesty's servant, to ---. In many cities and corporate towns liberal sums were given towards the defence of the Palatinate in 1622, but no certificates were made into the exchequer and the amounts have ever since been concealed. Prays that a messenger may go to those towns that are faulty, so that they may presently come up and pay the amount. [Ordered this day that Bristol and other towns should send up certificates of the money remaining in their hands within 20 days.]
