Eric Gordon Andrew Gumbleton was a son of Fred Gumbleton and his wife Rosina Matilda, nee Andrews. He was born on 24 Apr 1916 in the Southampton, Hampshire, Registration District.

In 1938 he joined the Royal Artillery but was transferred to the LAA (Light Anti-Aircraft Regiment). In 1953 he married Phyllis C Hulbert in Southampton. They had four children.

He died in 1989 in the Southampton, Hampshire, Registration District. At the time of his death he was of 16, Heathfield Close, Southampton, Hants. His widow died in 2012.
