| John Bowen Gumbleton was a son of Robert Warren Gumbleton and his wife Margaret, nee Bowen. Burke gives his birth date as 1795, but he registered himself at King's Inn in 1814 with a birth date of 20 Apr 1796. [Source: Peter Swann]
In 1815, his uncle, William Conner, died and Fortwilliam was inherited by John Bowen Gumbleton. On 26 Dec 1829, he married Ann Everard, daughter of Henry Everard, at St James’, Westminster. They had nine children. In 1836 he had a new house built on the property at Fortwilliam. In 1823 he served as a juror in the Waterford Grand Jury. In 1844, he was examined by the Irish Land Commission and declared to be “a good landlord”. He died in 1858 in Newton Abbott, Devon, England. | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
