Mark Bezaleel GUMBLETON

In 1851, the family were living in Long Crichel, a village a few miles from the town of Wimborne: Mark was aged 2. In 1861, they were still living in Long Crichel and Mark, aged 12, was a scholar.

By 1871 he was a farm labourer and will still living at home in Long Crichel. In 1876 he was a witness at the marriage of his sister, Ellen, at Gussage, St Michael, Dorset.

By 1881 he had moved on from agricultural work and was a general labourer, lodging at Princess Cottage Princess Rd, in the town of Christchurch, Hampshire. In 1887, still in Christchurch, he married Edith Gertrude Adeline WALBRIDGE. By 1891, they were living with their family of two children (and a lodger) at 2 Laurel Villas, Malmesbury Pk Rd, Holdenhurst , Hampshire. Holdenhurst is a village on the outskirts of the town of Bournemouth and on the border between Hampshire and Dorset. In 1881 it was in Hampshire but with more recent boundary changes it has been subsumed into Bournemouth and moved into Dorset.

In 1891, the family were living in the Grocers Shop, 21 Bennett Rd, Bournemouth. Mark was listed as a builder's carman and his wife was the grocer and shopkeeper. They were still living at 21 Bennett Road in 1811, but the census makes no mention of a shop at that date.

From at least 1918, Mark is shown in electoral rolls as having moved to 78 Stewart Road, Bournemouth, and from 1924, his address is 78 Stewart Rd, Bournemouth.

Mark Gumbleton died in 1932, in the Bournemouth district. His widow survived until 1938.
