| Frances Elizabeth Gumbleton was a daughter of Charles E Gumbleton and his wife Francis, nee Nicholls. She was born in 1911 in the Ecclesall, Yorkshire, Registration District. At the time, Charles and Francis were Salvation Army officers working in the Sheffield, Yorkshire, area. The 1911 census records the family, including the 10-week-old Frances Elizabeth, living in 11, Burgoyne Rd, Ecclesall Bierlow, Yorkshire.
In 1939 Frances Elizabeth married Clifford Isaiah Llewellyn ("Cliff") Townsend in the Cardiff, Glamorganshire, Registration District. This was probably at a time when her father was working at the Welsh National Headquarters of the Salvation Army. Cliff and Frances went on to have two daughters. They lived in Torquay, Devon, where she died in 1979. | ||
