|Robert Gumbleton was a son of Thomas Gumbleton of Britford, Wiltshire, and his wife, Joan. He was baptised 11 Sep 1614 at Britford, a village close to Salisbury, Wiltshire.
In 1638, he married Jane Shotter, at Britford. They had four children between 1639 and 1647.
In 1641, all men were expected to take oath of loyalty to to the King and the Protestant religion. The list of men who did so are known as the "Protestation Returns", and they included Robert Gumbleton of Britford.
