|Edward Gumbleton was a son of Solomon Gumbleton and his wife Maria, nee Osman. He
was born in 1864 and baptised on 24 July of that year, at Hanwell
Middlesex. At that time, Edward's father was working as a gardener at
"The Spring", a large property in Hanwell. The 1871 census shows Edward, aged 6, living
with his family at Gardener's Cottage, The Spring, Hanwell.
By 1881, the family had moved to Herrott Villas, Hanwell. Edward was now 16 and still living at home, with no occupation given in the census.
In 1889, he was married, at Brentford Registry Office, to Emily Essam. His address was given as 1 Laurel Villas, Hanwell and he was a gardener.
The 1891 census shows Edward and EMily living at 40 High Street, Hanwell and, by this stage, they had two small children. He was still a gardener.
In the 1901 census, Edward is shown living back with his parents, now at 36 Rosebank Rd, Hanwell. He is listed as unmarried and his daughter, Emily [R0001] is also in the household. It is assumed that his wife had died by this date, but no death record has been found.
In 1910. Edward was married to Emily Thomas at Brentford Middlesex. He was a widower and his occupation was a gardener. In the 1911 census they were living at 14 Adelaide Rd, Richmond, Surrey.
Edward died in 1924 and was buried in Richmond Cemetery, Surrey. His widow died in 1928.
