Other wills and administrations
Before the establishment of the Principal Probate Registry, in 1858, wills in England and Wales were proved by church courts. These were numerous and their records are distributed between various local repositories, so locating a pre-1858 will can be exceedingly difficult. The most important of these church courts was the Prerogative Court of Canterbury, which were digitised and made available online (pay per view) by the National Archives. However, these PCC wills represent only a small proportion of all wills proven in England and Wales.
I have recorded every reference that I have found to a Gumbleton will. In some cases I (or others) have transcribed the full text.
